The cleaning and scrubbing can wait till tomorrow
But children grow up as I’ve learned to my sorrow.
So quiet down cobwebs; Dust go to sleep!
I’m rocking my baby and babies don’t keep.
It's longer than just that stanza, but that was the part I heard growing up. I feel like maybe it was cross stitched on to something in my home, but I don't remember what.
Who are the babies that I found in my sons' crib this morning?
They're three pounds heavier than the babies I brought home. They've gained over half their birth weights.
They have gone from sleepy little babies who were too tired and weak to cry or eat, to babies that love to take baths, and burp like shotguns going off, and chew on each other's faces if they're hungry and we can't get into their room quick enough.
They love to look at people's faces and picture books. Grey's eyes widen when you pull out a Dr. Seuss book and he just stares at the pages.
Micah likes to stare out the window, and will lift up his head and turn his face towards the light.
They can both almost roll over. They can go from stomach to side, and from back to side, and if they're lying on something soft - like our bed or couch- they can make it all the way!
They like to sleep on their stomachs, but mostly they like to sleep on my stomach.
They still hardly ever cry, but that's because they're mellow mannered and happy - not because they're too tired.
Because trust me, when they get mad: you know it.
They're pretty good at shouting.
They're the best, most beautiful babies in the whole world.
Only problem is, I don't know where they came from, since I'm pretty sure that there were different babies here just yesterday.
And I don't approve of people sneaking in and whisking my children away, even when they leave such nice babies behind.
Below is me in the hospital with my boys, and me at home with the boys 6 weeks later.
Baby Micah. So scrawny and new. |
Aww, look at that double chin. He does a mama proud. |
My poor baby Grey with his big swollen and bruised face, all sore from being born. |
I think almost all the weight Grey gained was added straight to his perfect baby cheeks. |
And give us a click while you're here. These boys deserve a vote for every ounce they've gained. |

K. It's shocking how babies change over night. Literally overnight. I go into my girls' nursery and they're completely different people who have learned new tricks and noises overnight. The rate that babies develop at boggles my mind. I know I say this on virtually every post, but I really can't wait to meet them!
That is the sweetest picture of Grey! He does have perfect baby cheeks. And that is quit the chin on Micah!
l love them!
Those guys are purely awesome!
By the way, I LOVE when you surprise me with a post on the weekends.
you are wearing almost the same outfit in both pictures also micah is silly looking in that picture, but handsome, most silly though :)
man, I have to come by before they get switched for even bigger babies
They are beautiful! Amazing how fast they change, people always tell me don't forget to remember." I totally get it now.....
Oh yes! We had that same cross-stitch verse on the wall in our home when I was growing up, and now it's hanging on the wall in my kids play room! It's so true. Good words to live by.
Your babies are beyond beautiful!
Such precious babes. They are really quite beautiful little humans. :)
